Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant: A Delightful Asian Fusion Experience

I have been coming here for years, and I am always excited to eat their food! My favorites are the General Tso's Magic and Crispy Happiness (both pictured). Their rolls are very good, with my favorite probably being the sweet potato tempura roll. The whole menu is vegetarian with most of the items being vegan (or can be modified to be vegan). It is all very clearly marked. They updated the inside a few years back and all the Sunflower themed decor is very cute! This is a great place to celebrate special occasions or to bring friends and family that might not be familiar with plant-based food.

My husband and I have been coming to Sunflower for years—it’s truly our favorite spot. He’s been a loyal customer for over 25 years, and I’ve been coming for about six, and it’s always such a special treat for us. My go-to dishes are the General Tso’s Surprise, the Veggie Shrimp, and the Curry Supreme. My husband loves the Crispy Happiness (along with all of my favorites), and when we’re dining in on a chilly day, he always orders the Hot Hot Shabu Shabu soup. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The atmosphere is charming, the service is wonderful, and most importantly, the food is consistently outstanding—flavorful, unique, and unlike anything you’ve had before. 10/10, couldn’t recommend it more!

An absolute great choice for vegetarians, and can work if you’re not normally eating vegetarian food. It’s located in a small building with enough free parking for customers, and a very comfortable ambience. Staff are very friendly, welcoming, and helpful to customers, and quickly seated us. The food is very tasty, especially if you’re not used to an all-vegetarian menu. Prices are overall reasonable given it’s a specialty restaurant, portions, and flavors. We started off with seaweed salad and fried “Chick”in, which was a good take on nuggets. For our main meals we had Orion Ruby (a sweet and sour dish with taro dumpling puffs), eggplant medley, and ma po tofu. I personally liked the Orion Ruby best.

Absolutely love this cute restaurant, delicious vegan food, also good vegetarian options. Hard to find vegan options here in NOVA, but this restaurant is an absolute gem, and the staff is so friendly and kind. Absolutely recommend!!

Just got done with our meal, and it was amazing! We had two servers tonight (8/27/2025) who teamed up to help all the tables and they were both so friendly and helpful! I had come here one prior time & loved all the food so we got the same things. The Age Tofu is such a great starter, my mom got the Tom Yum soup and loved it! We split the Authentic Singapore Street Noodles in addition to our entrees and it’s just so unique and delicious. The flavor is so complex that keeps you coming back for more. I got the Hong Kong Tofu for my entree again and it was as amazing as always. The vegetables taste like they were just picked fresh. The Orange Tempura Garden was so yummy with mushrooms, sweet potato, broccoli & more with the yummiest orange sauce ever. Literally tastes like it was just made with fresh orange. I got my Jujube & Longan Fruit Crystal Tea again and it’s so good! It feels great to support a local restaurant instead of a chain, especially when it’s vegetarian/vegan. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

To preface, I am not a vegetarian. I chose this spot because I was with a friend who is vegetarian. What can say is that the food texture is very similar to the real meats! We had their vegetarian version of shrimp, beef, and chicken. A cool detail with the “shrimp” is that it still had those orange stripes on it, similar to the real ones even though it had a coated layer applied. Taste-wise, it was perfection. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. Some of the dishes are labeled with a pepper but our server says it was for people with really low spice tolerance. I couldn’t taste any spice. Staff was friendly. The vibe here is more homey.

This place is amazing!!! Wish we have one at home. Where to begin…great service. Our server was amazing. She took time to explain and recommend dishes!!! Besides the amazing service, the food was great! Particularly, my sisters and I agree the eggplant in basil chili sauce dish I got was the best as well as the sweet potato tempura sushi rolls we all shared!!! All the appetizers were amazing!!! And the virgin Mohito drink was excellent and refreshing!!!! My sisters enjoyed the cheesecake but the cheesecake was not for me. Can’t wait to come back to try other dishes!!! :)

My server Katherine was the best and Sunflower is very lucky to have her. She went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with every thing I can't wait to go back because of her and the great food. Definitely try the veggie fried rice though I prefer it without chickpeas - sure happily substituted that with broccoli. The grilled vegetable salad is wonderful as are the egg rolls and fried chicken small bites (previous visits). Definitely go if you can.... and ask for the chili oil to have with the rice and main dishes...
